Mike Trout hit a pair of home runs, including a mammoth 473-foot blast, to lead the Los Angeles Angels to a 7-4 win over the host Miami Marlins on Monday night.

Trout recorded the fifth-longest homer hit at Miami’s loanDepot Park since the Statcast era started in 2015. Avisail Garcia holds the record with a 485-foot long ball.

The Angels also got a home run from Nolan Schanuel, who is from Boca Raton, Fla., and played college ball at Florida Atlantic. Schanuel was the Angels’ first-round pick last year.

Five Angels relievers combined to pitch six scoreless innings as Los Angeles won its second straight game since an 0-2 start to the new season that triggered a team meeting.

The Marlins, off to an 0-5 start for the first time in franchise history, blew an early 4-0 lead.

Miami’s Max Meyer, pitching in his first game since Tommy John surgery in August of 2022, allowed two hits and two runs in five innings. He left with a 4-2 lead and was in line for his first major league win before the Angels rallied.

Angels starter Chase Silseth escaped with a no-decision after allowing four runs (three earned) in three innings.

Miami scored all four of those runs against Silseth in the first, getting RBI singles from Jake Burger and Jazz Chisholm Jr. Nick Gordon capped the rally with a two-run double.

The Angels got on the board in the second, as Taylor Ward stroked a leadoff double and advanced to third on a Brandon Drury flyout before scoring on Aaron Hicks’ groundout.

Trout’s first homer of the night, this one in the fourth inning, cut the Angels’ deficit to 4-2. Los Angeles tied the score in the sixth when Schanuel and Trout went back-to-back.

Marlins closer Tanner Scott (0-2) walked the first three batters of the eighth inning, most notably losing an 11-pitch battle with leadoff hitter Anthony Rendon. After Schanuel and Trout walked, Ward drove in a run with a groundout to make it 5-4.

The Angels extended their lead to 7-4 in the ninth after Logan O’Hoppe tripled and scored on Jo Adell’s broken-bat single.

Adam Cimber (1-0) came away with the win, and Carlos Estevez locked up his second save of the season.
