Mark Vientos and Jeff McNeil each hit two home runs and the visiting New York Mets outslugged the Atlanta Braves 9-2 on Saturday night.

The Mets went deep six times — one short of their season high — to win the second game of the three-game series. The Mets have won five of their last seven games.

Vientos hit solo homers in the seventh and ninth innings, giving him 11, and McNeil hit a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the ninth, giving him 12.

The Mets homered three times in the seventh inning against reliever Dylan Lee to break the game open. Pete Alonso started the uprising with a two-run homer, his 29th. Vientos followed with a solo shot and Starling Marte added a solo homer, his eighth.

Marte had a strong all-around game. He went 3-for-3 with a walk and threw out Nacho Alvarez Jr. at the plate from left field to complete a double play and end an Atlanta threat in the third inning. Mets leadoff batter Francisco Lindor was 1-for-4 and extended his hitting streak to 11 games.

New York starter Clay Holmes (11-6) worked 6 1/3 innings and allowed two runs on three hits, two walks and four strikeouts. It was his second victory over the Braves this season.

Right-hander Cal Quantrill (4-11), who was making his Atlanta debut after being picked up on waivers on Thursday after being released by Miami, left the game with two outs in the fifth inning after experiencing cramps in both his legs. Quantrill had a 2-1 count to Brett Baty when play was stopped. He allowed three runs on five hits, five walks and three strikeouts.

Atlanta scored both of its runs in the fourth inning without a base hit. Holmes walked Matt Olson and Ronald Acuna Jr. The bases were loaded on a fielder’s choice when Acuna beat the throw to second base. Marcell Ozuna followed with a sacrifice fly and Drake Baldwin got an RBI on an infield out.
