As the Mets face a difficult fight for the postseason with two games remaining, New York called up top prospect Dylan Ross on Saturday to help out in the bullpen.

The Mets entered the day tied for the third and final National League wild-card spot with the Cincinnati Reds, who own the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Mets should both teams finish with the same record.

In an additional move, the Mets placed infielder Brett Baty on the injured list with a right oblique strain while outfielder Jared Young was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse. Outfielder Jose Siri was sent outright to Syracuse after he was designated for assignment Wednesday.

To get Ross on the active roster, right-hander Kevin Herget was designated for assignment ahead of Saturday’s game against the host Miami Marlins.

Ross was called up from Triple-A Syracuse, where he notched a 1.69 ERA and 39 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched over 28 relief outings. Across three minor league levels this season, the right-hander had a 2.17 ERA, seven saves and 80 strikeouts in 54.0 innings across 49 relief appearances.

Ross, 25, was drafted by the Mets in the 13th round in 2022. His path to the big leagues was slowed by a 2022 Tommy John surgery that ultimately required a revision procedure that cost him all of the 2023 season.

Herget, 34, had a 3.00 ERA over six relief appearances with the Mets this season after starting the season with the Atlanta Braves.

Baty, 25, was batting .254 with 18 home runs and 50 RBIs in 130 games, while Young, 30, was batting .190 with four home runs in 21 games. Siri, 30, missed much of the season with a tibia fracture and batted just .063 with one RBI in 16 games.
