Harrison Bader, Starling Marte and Francisco Lindor homered Wednesday night for the host New York Mets, who never trailed in a 10-4 win over the Miami Marlins.

Tyrone Taylor tied a career high with four hits while Bader, Marte and Francisco Alvarez each finished with two RBIs for the Mets, who have won seven of the past 11 games. It was Taylor’s second career four-hit game. While playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, he went 4-for-5 against the Detroit Tigers on Sept. 9, 2020.

Dane Myers, Emmanuel Rivera, Bryan De La Cruz and Jazz Chisholm Jr. each had an RBI for the Marlins, who lost for the seventh time in nine games.

The teams will play the rubber game of the three-game series on Thursday.

Bader, who batted second Wednesday for the first time this season, opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run homer off Braxton Garrett (2-2).

Myers and Rivera had run-scoring hits in the top of the second against David Peterson (2-0). The Mets took the lead for good by scoring three times in the bottom half. Alvarez hit an RBI single, Mark Vientos scored on an error by second baseman Otto Lopez and Martinez drove in a run with a single.

The Marlins scored twice in the fifth. De La Cruz laced an RBI double and came home on Chisholm’s two-out single. The Mets began pulling away on Marte’s homer into the second deck in left field in the bottom half of the inning.

Vientos hit an RBI single in the seventh, and Alvarez extended the lead to 8-4 by beating out the back end of a potential inning-ending double play. Lindor homered leading off the eight, and Marte added a two-out RBI single.

Lindor, Marte and Bader had two hits apiece.

Peterson allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out one over five innings. Dedniel Nunez, Jake Diekman and Reed Garrett limited the Marlins to one hit over the final four innings.

Chisholm and Tim Anderson had two hits apiece for the Marlins.

Garrett gave up six runs (four earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out four over 4 2/3 innings.
