Pinch hitter Vidal Brujan hit a walk-off single in the 10th inning as the host Miami Marlins overcame four deficits to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-8, on Tuesday night.

With a 2-1 count against rookie reliever Chris Roycroft (1-1), Brujan pulled a single past second baseman Nolan Gorman for the win.

It was the teams’ second straight extra-inning game. St. Louis beat Miami 7-6 in 12 innings on Monday.

Neither starter was sharp, and they escaped with no-decisions.

The Cardinals’ Lance Lynn allowed 10 hits and six runs (five earned) in 5 1/3 innings.

Miami’s Roddery Munoz allowed eight hits, seven runs (six earned) and two walks in four innings.

St. Louis opened the scoring in the first inning as Alec Burleson reached on a Munoz error, and Paul Goldschmidt followed with a homer.

Miami took its first lead of the series, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first. Bryan De La Cruz and Josh Bell singled, and Jesus Sanchez followed with a homer.

St. Louis grabbed a 4-3 lead in the second as Michael Siani stroked a two-out double, and Brendan Donovan homered.

Miami tied the score in the bottom of the second. Otto Lopez reached on a fielder’s choice and eventually scored on Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s sacrifice fly.

The Cardinals grabbed a 6-4 lead by scoring twice for the third consecutive inning. This time, singles by Ivan Herrera and Matt Carpenter started the rally. Herrera scored on Brandon Crawford’s groundout, and Carpenter came home on Siani’s single.

In the fourth, the Cardinals got a run on Burleson’s homer.

Miami cut its deficit to 7-5 in the bottom of the fourth as Tim Anderson singled, stole second and eventually scored on Christian Bethancourt’s groundout.

The Marlins loaded the bases with one out in the fifth, but Lynn struck out Nick Gordon and Anderson.

Miami scored twice in the sixth to tie the score, 7-7. First, Bethancourt homered, chasing Lynn. Then, Chisholm singled and went to third on De La Cruz’s single to left. Bell followed with a sacrifice fly.

St. Louis took an 8-7 lead in the 10th on Dylan Carlson’s sacrifice fly.

But the Marlins won it with two runs in the bottom of the frame on RBI singles by Anderson and Brujan.
