Jordan Beck had three hits including two of Colorado’s five homers, Hunter Goodman and Kyle Farmer homered and had four RBIs apiece and the Rockies overcame a five-run deficit to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 14-12 in Phoenix on Saturday.

Ezequiel Tovar had a career-high five hits, including a homer on his second day back after missing a month with a left hip injury, and Colorado had season highs in runs and hits (19) to give interim manager Warren Schaeffer his first victory in his fifth game.

The top five in the Rockies’ order — Beck, Tovar, Goodman, Ryan McMahon and Farmer — were 15-for-27 with five homers, 13 RBIs and 11 runs. Beck scored four runs and drove in three.

Eugenio Suarez homered and had three RBIs and Alek Thomas homered for the D-backs, who scored in each of the first five innings and built an 11-6 lead.

Ketel Marte, Lourdes Gurriel Jr., Pavin Smith, Geraldo Perdomo and Gabriel Moreno had two hits apiece and Gurriel had a two-run triple for Arizona, which had won two straight.

Seth Halvorsen pitched a scoreless ninth for his second save in three chances. Jake Bird (1-1) pitched two innings of one-run ball for the win.

Colorado broke a four-game losing streak but at 8-37 are off to the worst start in modern major league history (since 1901). The 1904 Washington Senators, the 1932 Boston Red Sox and the 1988 Baltimore Orioles were 9-36.

The D-backs had eight extra-base hits while the Rockies compiled 10.

The Rockies, who had lost 11 of 12, earned their second victory since May 1.

Farmer and Goodman had two-run hits in the Rockies’ four-run sixth off Jalen Peeks to close the deficit to 11-10.

Beck hit a two-run homer in a three-run seventh off Ryan Thompson (1-1) for a 13-11 lead after Michael Toglia doubled in a run.

Arizona starter Zac Gallen gave up four homers and six runs in five innings. He yielded eight hits, walked two and struck out five while tying a career high for homers allowed in a game.

Rockies starter German Marquez gave up seven runs (five earned) and seven hits in three innings. He walked three, hit a batter and struck out one. He faced 22 batters and 11 reached base.
