Javier Sanoja homered and drove in five runs as the Miami Marlins avoided a sweep with a 7-5 victory in 10 innings against the host Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday.

Sanoja, who entered the day with zero home runs and three RBIs in 27 career games, helped Miami snap a five-game losing streak. Connor Norby added three hits for the Marlins while Dane Myers had two hits and scored twice.

Bryce Harper recorded two hits and two RBIs for Philadelphia, which had won its previous three games. Jesus Luzardo allowed two runs (one earned) in seven innings against his former team, striking out seven without a walk.

Miami trailed 4-2 in the eighth inning before the visitors scored three runs against Orion Kerkering. Norby led off with a single and Otto Lopez followed with a base hit. Kerkering recovered to get the next two hitters before Sanoja blasted a 1-1 pitch over the left field fence.

Philadelphia tied it up in the bottom half thanks to some shaky defense by the Marlins. Second baseman Lopez botched a potential inning-ending double play and then bobbled a grounder up the middle by Cal Stevenson, which allowed the tying run to score.

The Phillies put two runners on in the ninth against Calvin Faucher (1-1), but they were unable to push across the decisive run. That set the stage for the Marlins’ go-ahead rally.

Myers laid down a perfect bunt in the 10th against Matt Strahm (1-1) to put runners on first and third. Kyle Stowers’ sacrifice fly made it 6-5 and then Myers stole second before Sanoja’s grounder up the middle plated an insurance run.

Philadelphia scored three runs in the first inning against Connor Gillispie, highlighted by Harper’s two-run double.

Miami got on the board in the second inning on Sanoja’s sacrifice fly. The Marlins added an unearned run in the seventh as second baseman Bryson Stott couldn’t handle a two-out grounder, which enabled Sanoja to score to bring the Marlins within 4-2.

Gillispie allowed four runs and seven hits in five frames. Jesus Tinoco, the fourth Miami reliever of the game, retired the side in order in the 10th to register his first save.
