Outfielder/first baseman Joey Gallo hit a three-run home run hours after being activated from the injured list to lead the visiting Minnesota Twins to a 10-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox in the second game of a three-game series Wednesday night.

After missing 10 games with a right intercostal strain, Gallo hit his team-high fourth home run of the season to give the Twins a 7-0 lead in the third inning. It was his third three-run homer this season. Gallo singled in his first at-bat.

Left fielder Trevor Larnach also hit a three-run home run for Minnesota, while second baseman Edouard Julien hit a two-run shot. Julien collected three hits in the victory, and Larnach had four RBIs.

Enrique Hernandez hit his third home run of the season for Boston. Hernandez had two hits in the game, and also scored on a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

The Twins scored three runs in the first, four in the third and three in the sixth. Joe Ryan (4-0) earned the win for limiting the Red Sox to three runs on six hits in six innings. Ryan walked one and struck out three.

Boston starter Corey Kluber (0-4) surrendered seven runs in five innings. He gave up six hits, walked two and struck out four.

The Red Sox got on the scoreboard in the third, when Triston Casas scored from third on a Raimel Tapia groundout. Minnesota’s lead was trimmed to 7-2 in the fifth after Jarren Duran scored when Alex Verdugo hit into a double play.

Larnach’s home run stretched Minnesota’s lead to 10-2 in the top of the sixth, and Hernandez hit a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning.

Max Kepler, Byron Buxton, Larnach and Julien each scored twice for the Twins.

Second baseman Enmanuel Valdez made his major league debut for the Red Sox. He had two hits and committed an error.
