Longtime New York Mets catcher Ron Hodges died Friday after a short illness. He was 74.
A team spokesman confirmed Hodges’ passing at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.
Hodges played his entire 12-season major league career with the Mets — under seven different managers.
He batted .240 with 19 home runs and 147 RBIs in 666 games from 1973-84.
