MLB News: Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow (shoulder discomfort) leaves start after 1 inning

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow departed Sunday’s outing against the Pittsburgh Pirates after one inning with right shoulder discomfort.

It is Glasnow’s second consecutive start the Dodgers have cut short after he experienced leg cramps in a matchup against the Texas Rangers last Sunday.

The Dodgers took precautions against the same scenario this time around before a new issue surfaced. In the first inning Sunday, Glasnow gave up back-to-back home runs to Andrew McCutchen and Enmanuel Valdez.

“He did an IV yesterday, just kind of getting his body hydrated,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of Glasnow before the game. “All the work leading up to today is good. So for me and the training staff, there’s no concern going into this start. He looks good there.”

Glasnow warmed up before the start of the second inning before Roberts came to the mound with a team trainer. The right-hander walked back to the locker room after a short conversation and was replaced by right-hander Ben Casparius.

The Dodgers already have left-handed starter Blake Snell on the injured list with shoulder inflammation.

Glasnow, 31, entered the outing 1-0 with a 3.71 ERA in four starts. An All-Star last season, his first with the Dodgers, he is 40-33 with a career 3.81 ERA in 154 outings (115 starts) for the Pirates (2016-18), Tampa Bay Rays (2018-23) and Dodgers.

Glasnow made 22 starts for Los Angeles last season but did not participate in the team’s run to the World Series title during the postseason because of an elbow sprain.
