Shohei Ohtani hit a 473-foot home run beyond the bleachers in center field in the fifth inning to highlight a six-homer performance from the Los Angeles Dodgers, who completed a three-game series sweep of the visiting Boston Red Sox with a 9-6 victory on Sunday night.

Freddie Freeman, Teoscar Hernandez, Gavin Lux, Austin Barnes and Jason Heyward each added a home run for Los Angeles.

Dodgers starter James Paxton (8-2) gave up a two-run home run on his third pitch of the night before bouncing back to give up just two more hits over five-plus innings. He allowed three runs and four hits in all, walking four and striking out seven.

Jarren Duran stayed hot with four RBIs for the Red Sox, clubbing the early two-run shot off Paxton. Boston starter Kutter Crawford (6-8) surrendered six runs on seven hits — five of which were homers — in five innings. He didn’t issue a walk and fanned two.

Boston started fast, getting a Romy Gonzalez double to open the game before Duran hit a home run, his 12th of the season. The MVP of Tuesday’s All-Star Game, Duran had two homers in the series.

The Dodgers tied the game in the home half of the first, getting a two-out solo shot from Freeman and an RBI double from Lux.

Los Angeles went up 3-2 in the third inning when Hernandez hit his 20th home run of the season. Hernandez won Monday’s Home Run Derby.

Lux, who had three hits, put the Dodgers up 4-2 in the fourth inning with a home run to left-center field, his fifth long ball of the year.

Barnes made it 5-2 in the fifth inning for Los Angeles when he hit his first home run of 2024. Ohtani followed with his blast to center, becoming the first player in the National League to reach 30 home runs.

Heyward’s home run, a two-run shot, came during the Dodgers’ three-run eighth inning and proved key when the Red Sox scored three times in the ninth, including twice on a Duran double. Daniel Hudson earned his sixth save of the season, stranding runners at the corners.

The Dodgers lost shortstop Miguel Rojas to right forearm tightness at the start of the fourth inning.
