Seiya Suzuki’s single in the 10th inning scored automatic runner Ian Happ after Toronto tied the game with three runs in the ninth as the Chicago Cubs beat the visiting Blue Jays 6-5 on Friday afternoon.

With Happ on second, Michael Busch walked to start the 10th before Suzuki lined a single against Chad Green (3-3) into left field to help Chicago snap a three-game losing streak.

The Cubs led 5-2 in the ninth before Toronto loaded the bases with one out against Hector Neris. After a run scored when Neris was called for a balk, Leo Jimenez struck out before George Springer tied the game with a two-run triple.

Tyson Miller (4-1) pitched a scoreless 10th inning for the win.

Chicago starter Kyle Hendricks allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits over five innings. He fanned two without allowing a walk.

Pete Crow-Armstrong and Miguel Amaya put the Cubs ahead 4-2 with back-to-back homers in the fifth inning. Happ and Cody Bellinger also went deep in the victory.

Jimenez hit his second career home run for the Blue Jays, who had won three in a row.

Bellinger gave Chicago a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run homer to right field against Toronto starter Yariel Rodriguez. The 404-foot blast was Bellinger’s 13th homer this season.

The Blue Jays pushed a run across with two outs in the fourth inning when Spencer Horwitz scored from third on Ernie Clement’s infield single. Toronto capitalized on two errors to score the run but stranded runners at second and third when Joey Loperfido grounded out.

Jimenez tied the game with a leadoff home run in the fifth inning before Crow-Armstrong and Amaya responded to begin the home half.

Rodriguez exited after the fifth, having yielded four runs on four hits, including the three home runs. He walked two and fanned five.

The Cubs extended their lead to 5-2 in the seventh on Happ’s leadoff homer against Brendon Little. Happ is batting .321 (9-for-28) with four home runs during his seven-game hitting streak.
