Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado left St. Louis’ game against the host Miami Marlins in the eighth inning on Wednesday after he was hit by a pitch on the right elbow.

Arenado, who was drilled by a fastball from Huascar Brazoban, was replaced on the bases and in the field by Jose Fermin.

Following the game, St. Louis manager Oliver Marmol said that X-rays came back negative. Arenado is currently listed as day-to-day.

“I feel OK,” Arenado said, according to MLB.com. “There’s no break, but it kind of got me, like, in the nerve, so my hand kind of went into a claw and it’s kind of hard to move my fingers right now. …

“Probably gonna be pretty sore. It sucks that it’s my throwing hand, so I don’t know. I don’t know how long it’s gonna be. Hopefully there’s no (injured-list) stint, but, you know, it’s gonna probably be a few days. So hopefully I can get back Saturday.”

Arenado, 33, went 2-for-3 with a run prior to leaving the game.

The 10-time Gold Glove winner and eight-time All-Star is batting .260 with six homers and 32 RBIs in 70 games this season.
