Rookie left-hander Cade Povich pitched 7 1/3 shutout innings and struck out 10 in the best outing of his major league career as the Baltimore Orioles walked all over the visiting Chicago White Sox, winning 9-0 on Tuesday night.

Anthony Santander and Colton Cowser each knocked in two runs for the Orioles, while Eloy Jimenez, playing against his former team, posted two hits along with Santander. Gunnar Henderson scored three times for Baltimore out of the leadoff spot.

The Orioles (81-59), who have won four of their past five games, led 7-0 after two innings. They drew nine walks and left 10 runners on base for the game.

The White Sox (31-109) have lost 12 consecutive games as their franchise record for losses in a single season continues to grow.

Povich (2-7) held Chicago to four singles and Andrew Benintendi’s double. He didn’t issue a walk.

Burch Smith and Craig Kimbrel combined for 1 2/3 innings of one-hit relief.

White Sox starter Nick Nastrini (0-7) gave up seven runs (four earned) on four hits in 1 2/3 innings. He walked six and struck out two.

Jacob Amaya had two hits for Chicago.

Baltimore won 13-3 in Monday’s three-game series opener, and it wasted little time pouncing on the White Sox on Tuesday.

The Orioles took a 3-0 lead in the first inning on RBI doubles from Ryan O’Hearn and Santander and a run-scoring single from Cowser.

In the second, Cowser walked with the bases loaded before Chicago third baseman Miguel Vargas’ fielding error plated three more runs. Vargas crashed into Benintendi, the left fielder, while pursuing Jimenez’s two-out fly ball near the foul line in shallow left.

Vargas ended up leaving the game shortly after the play.

Cedric Mullins singled in a run in the fourth, and Santander’s sacrifice fly made it 9-0 in the fifth.

The top five batters in Baltimore’s order scored all of the Orioles’ runs.
