The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Jesse Winker on the injured list Tuesday with a cervical strain and recalled infielder Abraham Toro from Triple-A Nashville.
Winker, 29, is batting .204 with no home runs and just three extra-base hits in 108 at-bats over 39 games this season. In seven major league seasons, Winker is a career .267 hitter with 80 home runs and 256 RBIs over 588 games with the Cincinnati Reds (2017-21), Seattle Mariners (2022) and Brewers.
Toro, 26, has not played in the major leagues this season and was batting .258 with one home run and 18 RBIs in 43 games at Nashville. In 262 major league games over four seasons with the Houston Astros (2019-21) and Mariners (2021-22), Toro is batting .206 with 26 home runs and 99 RBIs.
