MLB News: Brewers place OF Jesse Winker (back) on IL

The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Jesse Winker on the injured list Wednesday with back spasms, while third baseman Abraham Toro was recalled from Triple-A Nashville.

Winker’s IL stint is retroactive to Tuesday. The 29-year-old is batting .199 with a .567 OPS and has one home run with 23 RBIs in 61 games this season.

In seven major league seasons, Winker is a .264 hitter with an .813 OPS, 81 homers and 266 RBIs in 610 games with the Cincinnati Reds (2017-21), Seattle Mariners (2022) and Brewers.

Toro, 26, was 4-for-8 with a home run and five RBIs in five games with the Brewers earlier this season. He is a career. 209 hitter with a .629 OPS, 27 homers and 104 RBIs in 267 games over five seasons with the Houston Astros (2019-21), Mariners (2021-22) and Brewers.
