Michael Harris II hit two long home runs and rookie Hurston Waldrep pitched six strong innings to help the Atlanta Braves extend their league-leading winning streak to 10 games with a 3-2 victory over the visiting Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

The Braves (75-83) have their first double-digit winning streak since winning 14 straight in June 2022. Washington (64-94) has lost nine of 12 games to the Braves this season.

Harris had a pair of solo homers, a 444-foot shot in the fifth and a 424-footer in the seventh. They marked his first home runs since Aug. 27 against Miami, giving him 19 for the season and matching his career high. It was his first multi-homer game of the season and sixth of his career.

Waldrep (6-1) allowed just one run on five hits with four walks and five strikeouts. He became the first rookie in franchise history to earn six wins while losing only one game in a season as a primary starter. His .857 win-loss percentage is the highest among rookies in franchise history with at least 10 appearances.

Raisel Iglesias worked around a one-out walk to pitch a scoreless ninth and earn his 28th save.

Washington starter Brad Lord (5-9) pitched six innings and allowed two runs on four hits — two of them home runs — with one walk and four strikeouts. He retired 13 straight after allowing a leadoff single to Jurickson Profar.

The Nationals scored their first run in the third. Waldrep issued a pair of two-out walks before C.J. Abrams drove in Nasim Nunez with a single to right field.

After Harris knotted the game with his first home run, Atlanta took a 2-1 lead in the sixth on Ronald Acuna Jr.’s homer — his 20th.

Washington’s James Wood hit a solo homer, his 28th, off reliever Dylan Lee to lead off the eighth inning and cut the lead to 3-2.

Atlanta’s Ha-Seong Kim went 0-for-4, ending his 10-game hitting streak.
