Atlanta Braves right-hander Bryce Elder will start Wednesday’s clash against the host Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the National League Division Series.
The Braves overcame a four-run deficit to post a 5-4 victory on Monday and even the best-of-five series at one win apiece.
Elder, 24, was 12-4 with a 3.81 ERA in 31 appearances (all starts) and made the All-Star team this season. He had a 3.38 ERA without a decision in two meetings with the Phillies in 2023.
Atlanta also announced that right-hander Spencer Strider will start Game 4 against the host Phillies on Thursday. Strider took the loss as the Game 1 starter on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) and five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts in seven innings of visiting Philadelphia’s 3-0 victory.
Strider, 24, was 20-5 in the regular season with a 3.86 ERA and MLB-best 281 strikeouts and 20 victories.
The Phillies had not announced their Game 4 starter as of Wednesday afternoon.
