The Atlanta Braves acquired left-handed reliever Aaron Bummer from the Chicago White Sox to mark the first significant trade of the offseason.

The White Sox, in turn, received right-handers Michael Soroka and Riley Gowens, left-hander Jared Shuster, shortstop Braden Shewmake and infielder Nicky Lopez in the return of Thursday’s deal.

Bummer, 30, posted a 5-5 record with a 6.79 ERA in 61 relief appearances last season. He struck out 78 batters in 58 1/3 innings.

Bummer owns a 14-15 mark with a 3.84 ERA in 289 career appearances with the White Sox.

Soroka, 26, went 2-2 with a 6.40 ERA in seven appearances (six starts) last season. He enjoyed a stellar campaign in 2019, going 13-4 with a 2.68 ERA while also making the National League All-Star team.

Shuster, 25, posted a 4-3 record with a 5.81 ERA in 11 starts this season.

Shewmake, who turns 26 on Sunday, went 0-for-4 in a brief appearance in the majors last season. The 2019 first-round pick batted .234 with 16 homers and 69 RBIs with Triple-A Gwinnett.

Lopez, 28, initially was acquired by the Braves from the Kansas City Royals at this past trade deadline. He hit .277 with one homer and 12 RBIs in 22 games with Atlanta.

Gowens, 24, went 1-0 with a 1.15 ERA in five appearances (three starts) between rookie and Low-A ball.
