Houston Astros star Yordan Alvarez left in the third inning of Sunday’s home game against the Los Angeles Angels due to a right knee contusion.
The left fielder injured his right leg sliding into second base on a double. He spent several minutes on the field being looked at by a member of the Astros training staff before exiting.
Mauricio Dubon entered the game to pinch run for Alvarez and played left field. Houston was leading 4-3 after six innings.
Alvarez, 27, was 2-for-2 on Sunday, including a single. The three-time All-Star outfielder, including this season, is batting .308 with 35 home runs and 86 RBIs.
