Tuesday’s game between the visiting Los Angeles and New York Yankees was postponed due to a forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
The teams will attempt to open their three-game series by playing a traditional doubleheader Wednesday afternoon beginning at 4:05 p.m.
The postponement was announced about three hours before the scheduled first pitch after a flood watch was issued earlier in the day for New York.
New York will start right-hander Luis Gil (11-5, 3.20 ERA) against Angels righty Davis Daniel (1-2, 4.91) in the opener in a battle of rookies. Game 2 will see Yankees right-hander Will Warren (0-0, 6.75) make his second career start opposite Los Angeles right-hander Carson Fulmer (0-2, 3.69).
The Yankees have won seven of eight following a 10-23 slide from June 15-July 26. They took two of three at home from the Toronto Blue Jays when Aaron Judge hit MLB-best his 40th and 41st home runs in the first two games before being intentionally walked three times Sunday.
The Angels are 12-9 in their past 21 games and took two of three at home from the New York Mets this weekend.
