Yoan Moncada hit the decisive two-run double in the 11th inning as the visiting Los Angeles Angels outlasted the St. Louis Cardinals 9-7 on Tuesday night.

Nolan Schanuel hit a two-run triple and Mike Trout added a two-run double for the Angels, who have won four straight games after losing their opener.

Los Angeles starter Kyle Hendricks held the Cardinals to two runs on seven hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Ryan Johnson (1-0), the Angels’ fifth reliever, earned his first big league victory, and Ryan Zeferjahn earned his first career save.

Jordan Walker had a homer and two RBIs, and Luken Baker hit a two-run double in the 10th inning for the Cardinals.

Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore allowed three runs on six hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked none.

Chris Roycroft (0-1), the fifth Cardinals pitcher, took the loss.

The Cardinals took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Nolan Gorman’s double and Walker’s RBI single.

The Angels broke through with two outs in the third inning. Singles by Tim Anderson and Taylor Ward, an RBI double by Luis Rengifo and Trout’s two-run double put them up 3-1.

Walker’s fourth-inning homer cut the Angels’ lead to 3-2.

The Cardinals tied the game 3-3 in the eighth inning. Nootbaar hit a leadoff single and advanced to third on two groundouts.

Nootbaar scored when Arenado hit a grounder to the right side of the infield, and first baseman Schanuel committed a throwing error.

But Schanuel atoned with his two-run triple in the 10th inning. Then he scored on Jo Adell’s single as the Angels took a 6-3 lead.

The Cardinals tied the game 6-6 in the bottom of the inning. Baker hit a two-run double and Arenado added an RBI single.

Los Angeles surged ahead 9-6 in the 11th with a two-out, two-strike RBI single by Kyren Paris, followed by Moncada’s two-run double.

Victor Scott II hit an RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
