Los Angeles Angels left-hander Patrick Sandoval his Friday start against the Los Angeles Dodgers after 2 1/3 innings due to left forearm tightness.

Sandoval visibly reacted after walking Shohei Ohtani in the third inning. He attempted to shake his arm and tried to flex his elbow as manager Ron Washington and a trainer hurried to the mound.

The discussion was brief and Sandoval departed and was replaced by Hunter Strickland.

After the Angels’ 3-2, 10-inning win, Sandoval told reporters he would get an MRI exam on his arm.

“It’s something I’ve never felt before,” Sandoval said after the game, according to the Orange County Register. “It’s pretty scary.”

“My spirits are pretty low right now because it’s pretty fresh, but we’ll see,” he added.

Sandoval gave up no runs, two hits, two walks and struck out one in his 16th start of the season. He entered the game with a 2-8 record and 5.24 ERA.

He is 19-45 with a 4.01 ERA in his six-year career, all with the Angels.
