Edward Cabrera pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings, leading the Miami Marlins to a 3-0 win over the host Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday afternoon.

The Phillies, who loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth to no avail, had their seven-game win streak snapped.

Cabrera (3-1) allowed just three hits and two walks, striking out six batters. The right-hander, who has pitched just five times this year and has 12 career appearances, lowered his season ERA from 2.61 to 2.05.

The Phillies failed to get a runner past second base against Cabrera, who retired 11 of the final 12 batters he faced.

Relievers Steven Okert, Dylan Floro and Tanner Scott completed the shutout. Scott earned his 16th save and his first of the four-out variety, after working out of a jam that he created.

Joey Wendle led Miami’s offense, going 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI as the Marlins broke a two-game losing skid.

Kyle Gibson (7-5) turned in a quality start but took the loss, allowing six hits, two walks and three runs, two earned.

Gibson got in trouble right away as Wendle led off the game with a triple. Miguel Rojas and Garrett Cooper followed with walks to load the bases with no outs. But Gibson escaped damage as he got JJ Bleday to line out to second base and Nick Fortes to ground into a double play.

The Marlins opened the scoring in the second inning. Lewin Diaz reached on first baseman Rhys Hoskins’ fielding error. Diaz raced to third on Luke Williams’ bloop single and scored on Wendle’s single.

Miami’s sixth inning started with two straight outs before Fortes and Charles Leblanc singled. Fortes scored when Gibson bounced a wild pitch. Leblanc, who stole second and advanced on the wild pitch, scored on Diaz’s double.

Philadelphia started to tee off against Floro in the eighth. Leadoff batter Matt Vierling’s deep drive was run down on the right-field warning track by Bleday. But the next batter, Brandon Marsh, doubled off the wall in right-center. After Hoskins walked, Alec Bohm was caught looking at a 3-2 sinker that might’ve been low.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly then brought in Scott, who struck out pinch-hitter J.T. Realmuto on a high fastball.

In the ninth, the Phillies used two singles and a walk to load the bases with no outs. But Scott struck out pinch-hitter Edmundo Sosa and Vierling before getting Marsh on a grounder to first.
