The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired veteran reliever Chris Martin from the Chicago Cubs for infielder/outfielder Zach McKinstry.
Martin is 1-0 with a 4.31 ERA and six holds in 34 appearances out of the bullpen in 2022. The 36-year-old right-hander has struck out 40 batters, walked four and allowed five home runs in 31 1/3 innings.
He is 6-15 with seven saves and a 4.10 ERA in 244 games (no starts) over parts of seven seasons with the Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees, Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves and Cubs.
The Dodgers are currently working through injury issues in the back end of their bullpen with right-handers Brusdar Graterol (shoulder), Blake Treinen (shoulder) and Tommy Kahnle (forearm) all on the injured list. Right-hander Daniel Hudson (knee) is out for the season.
McKinstry, 27, is batting .091 with a home run and two RBIs in 10 games this season. He is a .210 hitter with eight homers and 31 RBIs in 74 games over three seasons with the Dodgers.
