Willi Castro homered, Harold Castro hit a two-run single and the visiting Detroit Tigers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 on Friday night.

Victor Reyes added three hits and an RBI for the Tigers, who gained a split of the first two games of a four-game series. Five Detroit relievers combined for 5 1/3 scoreless innings.

Toronto’s Matt Chapman hit a solo homer.

Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah (11-5) allowed four runs, seven hits and one walk while striking out four in 5 1/3 innings.

He left the game in the sixth inning after a comebacker struck him on the right elbow. The Blue Jays said he has a contusion on the elbow and X-rays were negative.

Detroit right-hander Bryan Garcia allowed two runs, three hits and two walks while fanning three in 3 2/3 innings. He was making his first major league appearance of the season after being promoted from Triple-A Toledo.

Chapman hit his 19th home run of the season — and his third of the series — with one out in the second inning.

Detroit tied the game in the third with consecutive two-out doubles by Riley Greene and Reyes.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Chapman walked with two outs in the fourth, and Raimel Tapia followed with an RBI single. The hit prompted the Tigers to bring on Will Vest (3-2) in relief of Garcia.

The Tigers’ Greene walked with two outs in the fifth, Reyes singled and Javier Baez was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Harold Castro hit a two-run single.

Willi Castro led off the sixth with his fourth homer of the season and second of the series.

Manoah left the game after he was hit in the elbow by Jonathan Schoop’s groundout. Tim Mayza took over.

Vest threw 1 1/3 scoreless, hitless innings for the win. Jason Foley and Joe Jimenez (three strikeouts) each followed with a shutout inning. Michael Fulmer worked around a walk in the eighth, fanning two.

Gregory Soto pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth with one strikeout to earn his 19th save.

George Springer (elbow) and Bo Bichette (shoulder) were not in Toronto’s starting lineup. Bichette pinch-hit in the ninth and flied out to end the game.
