A 17-year-old teenager is charged with murder after he allegedly gave her ecstasy laced with fentanyl, causing her to overdose and die. Jacob Sayre is on trial as an adult for the alleged sale of drugs and was booked on Thursday in Ozark, Missouri, on charges of second-degree murder, endangering a child, and delivering a controlled substance.
According to police, the alleged drug deal took place in September after the youths met at their local church, ultimately taking sophomore Victoria Jones’ life prematurely. Following Sayre’s arrest on Thursday, 104 days after Victoria’s untimely death, the girl’s mother, Wendie Glass Jones, took to social media to chastise the alleged killer, while also revealing that her daughter had been struggling with ‘feelings’ of not being ‘good enough,’ as well as depression, before fatally overdosing on her early on September 4.
The mother recalled that at 11 p.m. the night before, she and her husband said goodnight to their daughter for the last time, only to find her dead the next morning. Nonetheless, despite the seriousness of the charges against her, Sayre is free on $50,000 bail.
The mother revealed for the first time on Saturday that her daughter was not friends with Sayre and that, with her dying breath, her daughter tried to call Sayre when she started feeling the effects of the powerful painkiller, but she was allegedly ignored. She now demands that the teen face justice for his actions.
Meanwhile, police have released few details about what caused the teen’s overdose death. Officers told the girl’s parents that the girl had experimented with other drugs such as weed, molly, and cocaine. An autopsy report also revealed that the victim had foam in her throat as well as MDMA, the scientific abbreviation for the active ingredient in ecstasy, and fentanyl in her system. Without going into detail, the coroner stated that the amount of fentanyl in his system was fatal.
Cops said Sayre instructed the girl in the messages on how to crush and inhale the pill for a faster, more pronounced high, telling her to “just keep a bucket near you and inhale half of it.” Cops confirmed that the victim texted Sayre again after inhaling the drug, saying she could feel it working. She died not long after.
Sayre is scheduled to appear in court on January 31 after his temporary release. He is currently under house arrest, which is enforced through GPS tracking, and is only permitted to leave the house for drug and medical treatment.
