Missouri schoolgirl Kaylee Gain is breathing on her own. She is also stable after being taken out of the ICU. The 16-year-old had been attacked in a brawl between school girls. A video that went viral on social media showed that she had suffered seizures after her head had been smashed into the ground.
The 16-year-old from St. Louis, Missouri, has a GoFundMe page, and an update on her condition has been posted on the page.
Clinton Gain, Beneficiary, posted the following update: “We are happy to share that Kaylee is breathing on her own and remains stable, and the best news so far is that we have been moved out of the ICU. We are truly blessed by the outpouring of support and your prayers. It means so much to us!”
Kaylee’s head was repeatedly smashed on the pavement near the school she and the 15-year-old girl who attacked her attend. The violent incident that took place on March 8 was caught on a camera located near the school. Kaylee Gain reportedly had a seizure while other teens kept on fighting. She suffered a skull fracture and other injuries.
Kaylee was found by the police near her school, at the intersection of Norgate Drive and Claudine Drive. The Hazelwood School District released a statement after the brawl offering condolences, support, and more.
Kaylee Gain’s family has asked for “justice through the legal system.” They requested other teenagers not to take action against Kaylee’s alleged attacker.
The 15-year-old who allegedly attacked Kaylee has been charged with felony assault. She is currently being held at the Family Court in St. Louis. A hearing is expected early next month.
The alleged attacker’s family said that the 15-year-old is an honor roll student at Hazelwood East High School. She has an exemplary record and is a polyglot. They say she was allegedly defending herself when the fight with Kaylee occurred. They said calling her a “bully” and more was unfair.
