A Houston, Texas man was discovered this weekend, more than eight years after he was reported missing as a Houston 18-year-old with cuts, bruises, and blood in his hair.
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) states that Rudolph Rudy Farias IV was last seen on March 6, 2015. According to NamUs, he was 18.
The organization said that Farias was last seen walking his dogs in a northeast Houston neighborhood at the time of his disappearance.
Farias was “located safe” on Saturday, according to a tweet from the Texas Centre for the Missing and was being treated in a hospital.
The Texas facility tweeted, “Please keep his family in your prayers as Rudy recovers in the hospital.”
According to Farias’ mother, when they tried to speak to him, he would only utter a few words before curled up in the fetal position, the police station stated. She acknowledged that his road to recovery would be difficult, but she is grateful that he was discovered alive.
