One week after a Florida mom was reported missing, Alabama police said that they have found her body in a shallow grave. The grave was inside a barn in Alabama. The 37-year old woman had disappeared after she had gone to meet her ex-boyfriend, to pick up her daughter Saylor, at Navarre Beach, Florida, in a custody exchange. He is now under arrest. Cassie Carli had been missing from March 27. Her ex Marcus Spanevelo is also Saylor’s father.
At a new conference, on Sunday afternoon. Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson said that they had discovered her body in Springville while executing a search warrant in Alabama. He said that the body was in a barn, in a shallow grave. He added that it was not the ending they wanted, obviously but hoped that it would provide some closure to the family.
He added that a suspect was in custody for tampering with and destroying evidence. The sheriff added that the office would not reveal further details, at this time as it is an ongoing investigation but did mention that there was a connection between the property where her body was found and the suspect.
Marcus Spanevelo, was arrested at a traffic stop in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had arrested him based on a warrant issued by the Major Crimes Unit at the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
Cassie’s body has been identified by a specific tattoo she had, which matched tattoos that were also present on her father and sister and this was confirmed by her sister, as well. The Sheriff said that an autopsy would be conducted, on Monday, following which charges would be filed.
We believe Cassie Carli’s body was found in this barn on Hwy 11 in Springville. The “No trespassing” sign was added after news broke of the discovery of her body. Photo creds to â¦@JoeSonger22â© who pretends he is retired https://t.co/Txqwkge5Nj pic.twitter.com/dK9aIp35ij
