The 38-year old artist however was not present physically to receive the award, but joined in virtually and shared a video message. Lambert said that she couldn’t believe that she wasn’t there at the show and added that it was the first time she was missing the show in 17 years, as she was not in the U.S.
Lambert thanked the country music family for supporting her through the years and ended her speech leaving a few words of motivation for other women in the industry. Lambert noted, “’This one goes out to all the singer-songwriter girls out there who are putting their blood, sweat and tears into their guitar strings.’
Lambert was nominated several times in the past for the same category but this was the first time she received this honor.
