Milan Momcilovic scored 29 points on 11-for-16 shooting, including 7-for-10 shooting from beyond the arc, and No. 16 Iowa State cruised to an 88-50 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Monday night in Ames, Iowa.

Tamin Lipsey added 18 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals for Iowa State (1-0), which is looking to build upon a 25-win campaign from a season ago. Joshua Jefferson finished with 14 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

David Jevtic scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Fairleigh Dickinson (0-1). Eric Parnell scored 13 points, and Taeshaud Jackson added nine points and seven rebounds.

Iowa State shot 52.2 percent (35 of 67) overall and 44.4 percent (12 of 27) from 3-point range. Fairleigh Dickinson shot 32.7 percent (17 of 52) from the field and 22.2 percent (6 of 27) from deep.

The Cyclones jumped to a 45-19 lead at the half en route to the victory on their home court.

Iowa State wasted little time in setting the tone. Jackson made a layup to bring the Knights within 5-3 in the first four minutes, and the Cyclones responded with an 8-0 run that included back-to-back 3-pointers by Momcilovic and a layup by Lipsey to make it 13-3.

Less than seven minutes later, Iowa State doubled its lead. Momcilovic drained a jump shot to finish a 9-0 run that increased the Cyclones’ lead to 31-11 with 8:30 left in the first half.

Parnell hit a 3-pointer to bring Fairleigh Dickinson within 35-19 with 2:54 left in the first half.

The Cyclones responded with a 10-0 run before the break.

Momcilovic started the run with a jump shot. Jefferson added four straight points on a free throw, a jump shot and another free throw. Lipsey finished the run with back-to-back layups.

Iowa State built upon its lead in the second half. Momcilovic and Killyan Toure made three consecutive 3-pointers to increase the Cyclones’ lead to 56-21 in the first five minutes of the second half, and Iowa State never looked back.
