On Thursday, Mike Pence addressed a gathering at the Ronald Reagan Public Library. He spoke of the incidents that happened on January 6 and said that he did his duty under the Constitution and certified the results. He also spoke of Republican values and criticized the Democrats for using the January 6 riot to discredit the GOP.
Former Vice President Mike Pence said that he would always be proud that they did their part on that tragic day (January 6) to reconvene the Congress. He also said that they fulfilled their duty under the Constitution and the laws of the United States.
In a first direct reference to the former president’s refusal to accept his electoral loss he said that that the truth was that there was almost “no idea more un-American that the notion that any one person could choose the American president.”
He did say that he was disappointed about the results of the last election but said that there was more at stake than the GOP and its political fortunes at this period of time. He said that if they lost faith in the Constitution, they would not only lose elections bit would also lose the country.
He also spoke of the conservative values of the GOP. He said that the Democrats wanted to undercut the Second Amendment. He also said that they wanted to redefine the liberties that were granted to Americans according to the Bill of Rights.
He went on to further criticize the Democrats saying they demeaned the founding of America and that the Republican Party would always defend the principles that were at the heart of the American republic.
He also put forth the records that he had achieved along with former president Trump during their four-year presidential administration. He even compared the former president to Ronald Reagan, one of the most popular Republican presidents in recent times.
Pence is planning to run for the 2024 presidential elections. In this address he managed to speak to the crowd about his past and their achievements unlike his earlier address. When he had addressed a crowd of Republican supporters at a Faith and Freedom Coalition event earlier this month in Orlando, Florida, he was booed and heckled by the crowd. He had barely begun his speech when the chant of “traitor” began.
Mike Pence had earned pro-Trump supporter’s ire at the above event as they held him responsible for certifying President Joe Biden. Since the former president still considers the elections results to be a big lie, almost all his followers believe the same and blame Pence for the loss, despite the fact that Pence fulfilled his duty under the Constitution.
