Mikaela Shiffrin turned in a dominating performance in the slalom to capture her 93rd career World Cup victory on Friday in Lienz, Austria.
The win was the second in a row for Shiffrin, who won the giant slalom on Thursday.
Friday’s triumph was the 56th in her career in the slalom — she has 22 in the giant slalom event — and came by a whopping 2.34 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Lena Duerr of Germany. Michelle Gisin of Switzerland was third.
“I felt really good today from the very beginning,” said Shiffrin, 28, who lives in Colorado. “I am so happy with how I felt and we did so much work for Christmas so it could not have paid off in a better way.”
Shiffrin now will prepare for the giant slalom and slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, on Jan. 6-7.
