Meta announced new paid subscriptions for advertisement free options on its popular social media platforms in Europe. The Monday announcement said it will roll out subscription options for both Facebook and Instagram in November. Meta has globally offered its social media apps free as it gets its revenue from ads. However, government pressure and regulations from Europe have resulted in changes in tech companies’ offerings of core products.

Meta said that it was introducing its advertisement-free options for paid subscribers to comply with “evolving European regulations.” It also said that web fans can opt for subscriptions that will give them ad free Facebook and Instagram or they continue using these apps for free with advertisements.

The subscription option will be available in the following:
The European Union
Iceland
Norway
Liechtenstein
Switzerland.

Organic Greek Vitamin Bottles and Multivitamin Gummies

Meta is expected to charge web fans a subscription of 9.9 euros per month for web version and 12.99 euros per month for iOS and Android devices. It will apply for a user’s linked Facebook and Instagram accounts. Later, from March 1, 2024, additional accounts will have to pay an additional fee of 6 euros per month for the web version while mobile access will attract an additional fee of 8 euros per month.

Meta also said that they believed “in a free, ad-supported internet” and that they would “continue to offer people free access” to their “personalized products and services” and that it would be independent of their incomes.

It also said that they were committed to “keeping people’s information private and secure” and that they would follow the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as Meta’s own policies.

Meta is not the only big tech company to make policy changes. Stricter European regulations have forced Apple, YouTube and Amazon to also make changes in their core products that are in compliance with European rules and regulations.
