Meta Platforms (META) CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted in detail on his social media about the new features that would be added to the new app called Threads from parent company Meta, in the next few weeks. These new functions include search and web, both of which are extremely important for the app to retain its millions of early web fans as both these features are essential for a good experience on Threads.
His Zuck account posted, “A good week for Threads. The community here is on the trajectory I expect to build a vibrant long-term app. Lots of work ahead but I’m excited about the team’s pace of shipping. Search and web coming in the next few weeks.”
Meta Platforms launched a basic app in Threads to rival the popular platform Twitter that has been declining due to several reasons after it was acquired by Tesla CEO Elon Musk for $44 billion.
Although Musk streamlined Twitter, renamed it as X and brought back popular but controversial accounts, Twitter has lost many web fans, due to other changes.
Mark Zuckerberg launched Threads weeks ago not only to fill in the empty spaces after the blue bird flew away and was replaced by an unknown factor X but also as a future rival to the Elon Musk owned platform that is still facing difficulties.
Threads got 100 million signups in days and this was the fastest consumer software product launch in history. However, a report by Reuters said that more than half of them left.
Although any new social media product sees huge entries followed by large exits after weeks of its initial launch, Mark Zuckerberg seems to be positive about its growth and is making an effort to add features starting with a Following feed.
In earnings call last week, Mark Zuckerberg said that he was “quite optimistic” about Threads and its future, since its July launch. He said that it was built by a small team and would not be monetized until it became bigger and more established.
Many web fans are looking forward to a web as well as a search feature in Threads by Meta. This will definitely help the new app to retain its current followers and perhaps continue to grow from a bare bone app to a well-rounded one, which is the goal of Meta.
