McDonald’s shared its plans on Wednesday, one day before Investors Day. These include its fastest growth initiative, improved products, investments in digital delivery as well as drive-throughs, growth of its loyalty program, improved operations using Cloud, AI, and cutting-edge computer tools, and more.
After reporting high single-digit sales growth in the last quarter, McDonald’s unveiled many plans for the expansion of its golden arches. This includes an expansion to 50,000 restaurants by 2027. This is expected to be its fastest growth since its existence.
The 68-year-old food and beverage chain has also announced that it is buying back a reported minority stake of $1.8 billion from Carlyle in its international business in China.
McDonald’s is planning to bring Best Burger into its core menu items and this will have an impact on popular menu favorites such as Big Mac, McDouble as well as cheeseburger, double cheese burger, and hamburger. This reportedly favorable change will come into effect in all markets by 2026.
McDonald’s recently reported that its chicken business has caught up with its traditional beef business. It plans to bring its chicken sandwich McCrispy to all markets in the next couple of years. It will also introduce wraps and tenders.
McDonald’s has seen a growth spurt in digital sales in the last quarter. The fast food chain is poised to increase its investments in digital, delivery as well as drive-throughs.
The giant chain said that its loyalty program will also gain from investments as it looks to increase the active users in its loyalty program from the current 150 million 90-day active users to 250 million. It is projecting $45 billion in systemwide sales each year.
McDonald’s will also partner with Google Cloud next year using generative AI. The giant fast food chain is expected to use AI, cloud, and edge computing tools in its operations to benefit employees and customers worldwide.
