At least ten people have died in a mass shooting at a university in Prague, according to Czech authorities, who also stated that the gunman has been eliminated. According to Prague’s emergency services, nine of the other thirty-two injuries were critical.
The event happened at Charles University’s Faculty of Arts, which is close to Old Town, one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Czech Republic.
About thirty people suffered wounds. The number of injured is currently estimated by Prague police to be thirty. Eleven individuals, including the shooter, were killed.
The Czech Republic has very little gun crime. In the eastern Czech city of Ostrava in December 2019, a 42-year-old gunman opened fire on six people in a hospital waiting area before escaping and taking his own life, according to authorities.
