The Miami Marlins bolstered their depth in the field and in the bullpen on Thursday when they reinstated infielder Joey Wendle and left-hander Richard Bleier from the injured list.
Wendle hit .304 with two homers, 10 RBIs and four stolen bases in his first 25 games this season before a hamstring strain sent him to the IL. He played 16 games at third base while also filling in at shortstop and second base.
He is in his first season in Miami after spending the previous four years with the Tampa Bay Rays. The Marlins acquired Wendle on Nov. 30 in exchange for minor-leaguer Kameron Misner.
Bleier is 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA in 11 relief appearances. He has walked two and struck out six in 8 2/3 innings.
The Marlins optioned catcher Payton Henry and infielder Joe Dunand to Triple-A Jacksonville in corresponding roster moves.
Miami also returned infielder Erik Gonzalez to Jacksonville, added infielder Luke Williams to the 40-man roster and assigned him to Triple-A Jacksonville, and transferred right-hander Paul Campbell (elbow) to the 60-day injured list.
Williams was acquired earlier Thursday in a minor league deal that sent infielder Hayden Cantrelle to the San Francisco Giants.
