Malik Reneau scored a game-high 24 points on 10-for-10 shooting, and Miami demolished Delaware State 97-41 on Sunday afternoon in Coral Gables, Fla.

Playing just 19 minutes, the 6-foot-9 Reneau notched 10 rebounds, three assists and two blocks for the Hurricanes (5-1), who won for the second straight time.

Tre Donaldson had 21 points on 8-of-8 shooting and made all four of his 3-point attempts. Salih Altuntas recorded a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards. Shelton Henderson scored 11.

Miami made 38 of 62 (61.3%) shots and was 10-of-23 (43.5%) from long range. It owned a 44-29 rebound advantage and a 52-12 margin in points in the paint.

Delaware State (2-5) suffered its first setback in three games and had only one player in double figures, Ademar Santos with 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Cyril Obasogie totaled four points and nine boards.

The Hornets shot 25.9% (14-of-54) from the floor and committed 19 turnovers.

After trading opening buckets, Miami went on a 9-0 run as Reneau proved hard to handle for Delaware State.

The outburst continued as Miami made 10 of its first 16 shots to lead 25-7 after Reneau’s layup at 9:11 put him at eight points on 4-of-4 shooting. A 3-pointer by Zion Bethea at 7:44 finally ended the Hurricanes’ 11-0 run that created separation.

Reneau’s layup at 3:20 capped a 19-2 stretch that put the home side up 46-13, and Miami added to that for a 50-19 halftime edge.

Reneau was Miami’s first-half leader with 14 points followed by Donaldson’s 13. The Hurricanes made 64.5% of their field goals and were 5-of-10 (50%) from deep in the half.

Santos had five first-half points for Delaware State, which made just 7 of 25 (28%) field goals over the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half, the Hurricanes continued to race away from the Hornets, leading by as many as 59 points with 3:37 left before a late 6-0 Delaware State run.
