Reigning Mid-American Conference Player of the Year RayJ Dennis of Toledo announced Thursday that he is transferring to Baylor.

Dennis averaged 19.5 points, 5.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds and made 54 3-pointers in 36 games this past season. He averaged 12.7 points in 34 games the previous season and finished his two seasons in Toledo with 1,137 points in just 70 games (all starts).

Dennis said he chose Baylor over Utah, Illinois and Michigan.

“It was a tough decision, no question. I had really good options and a lot of respect for all four coaches,” Dennis told The Field of 68. “I was playing the long game. Coach (Scott) Drew being the person he is and the job he has done with guards in the past, it felt like a good opportunity.”

The Bears have a need in the backcourt after Keyonte George and Adam Flagler left for the NBA draft and LJ Cryer transferred to Houston.

The 6-foot-2 Dennis declared for the NBA Draft in late March before withdrawing his name earlier this week.

Dennis played his first two college seasons at Boise State — averaging 6.2 points in 60 games (40 starts) — before transferring to Toledo.

Baylor previously landed VCU guard Jayden Nunn out of the transfer portal. He averaged 9.0 in 66 games (64 starts) with the Rams.
