Michael Nwoko had 29 points, Marquel Sutton added 16 points and 10 rebounds and LSU pulled away to a 107-81 victory against Alcorn State on Tuesday night in Baton Rouge, La.

DJ Thomas scored 16 points for the Tigers (4-0), who trailed for much of the first half before outscoring the Braves (0-6) 57-37 in the second half.

Davian Williams scored 21, Travis Roberts had 12, Nick Woodard had 11 and Mike Jones added 10 to lead Alcorn State.

Nwoko made two free throws to start the second-half scoring and a few minutes later made a layup to give LSU a 60-49 lead. The Tigers led by 11 a second time before Williams made a 3-pointer.

Sutton hit a 3-pointer and another jumper to give LSU a 70-57 lead before Woodard made a 3-pointer and two other jumpers as Alcorn State got within 74-66.

Consecutive layups by Jalen Reece and Rashad King pushed the lead to 12 midway through the second half before the Tigers expanded the lead to 28 in the final minute.

Williams made consecutive 3-pointers during an 11-0 run that gave Alcorn State a 19-12 lead. Robert Miller III made two free throws to stop the run and Jalen Reed added a layup before the Braves’ Tycen McDaniels made a layup.

A 3-pointer by PJ Carter and a free throw by Miller pulled the Tigers within 21-20. William Henderson made a jumper and Shane Lancaster added a layup to give Alcorn State a five-point lead midway through the half.

A dunk by Nwoko and a layup by Miller got LSU within a point again, but Williams’ 3-pointer and consecutive field goals by Jones pushed the Braves’ lead to 32-26.

Sutton’s 3-pointer finished a 6-0 run that pulled the Tigers even. The score was tied twice more before Reed made a 3-pointer and Max Mackinnon made three free throws during a 10-0 spurt that gave LSU a 46-38 lead.

Jeremy Ellis made a jumper to end the run and LSU held a 50-44 lead at halftime.
