Lucy Li, a former child phenom who was the youngest player to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Women’s Amateur, will have full-time status on the LPGA Tour in 2023.

Li, 19, is the first player this season to earn her tour card via the developmental Epson Tour. She is mathematically guaranteed to finish in the top 10 in points on the Epson Tour, securing her promotion to the LPGA.

Li qualified for the 2014 U.S. Women’s Open at age 11. Before that, she qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur at 10 years, 10 months and four days old, and she reached the match-play portion of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links at 10 years, eight months and 16 days old. The latter broke a record previously set by Michelle Wie.

Li won her first two Epson Tour titles this summer, at the Carolina Golf Classic at Greensboro, N.C., in June and the Twin Bridges Championship at Albany, N.Y., in July. She has been qualifying for individual LPGA tournaments since and will be in the field at this week’s CP Women’s Open at Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

“It’s definitely been a big goal of mine for a long time,” the California native said in a news release. “To finally be able to be out there and compete with the best in the world is very exciting.”
