The top three teams in the League Championship Series Spring Split maintained their distance from the chasing pack by earning victories on Friday as Week 4 concluded.
FlyQuest (8-1) bounced back from their first defeat of the split, beating Counter Logic Gaming (4-5). Evil Geniuses (7-2) downed Immortals (2-7), and Cloud9 (7-2) got past Team Liquid (3-6).
In other action, TSM (5-4) defeated last-place Dignitas (0-8) and Golden Guardians (5-4) topped 100 Thieves (4-5).
The 10 teams in the top North American League of Legends circuit will play every other team twice through March 17. The first- through fourth-place teams will then head to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The fifth- and sixth-place teams will enter the playoffs in the lower bracket.
The winner and runner-up in the playoff final will earn berths in the Mid-Season Invitational along with other teams from LoL leagues worldwide. The LCS Spring Split carries a $200,000 prize pool, with the champion earning $100,000.
On Friday, FlyQuest earned a 30-minute win on red over Counter Logic Gaming. South Korea’s Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang paced FlyQuest with a 5-2-5 kills-deaths-assists ratio. The United States’ Juan “Contractz” Garcia wound up at 3-3-4 for Counter Logic Gaming.
Evil Geniuses needed 33 minutes on red to top Immortals. Canada’s Joseph Joon “jojopyun” Pyun led Evil Geniuses at 6-0-6, while the United States’ Edward “Tactical” Ra finished at 1-2-1 for Immortals.
Cloud9, playing on blue, beat Team Liquid in 42 minutes. Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol carried Cloud9 at 8-2-3, and another South Korean, Hong “Pyosik” Chang-hyeon, produced a 4-3-1 K-D-A ratio for Team Liquid.
TSM, playing on red, topped Dignitas in 32 minutes. Vietnamese-American player Toan “Neo” Tran led TSM at 5-0-2, while Dignitas didn’t manage a kill in the match.
Golden Guardians logged a 34-minute win on blue over 100 Thieves. The United States’ Trevor “Stixxay” Hayes powered to a 6-0-3 K-D-A ratio for Golden Guardians. Another U.S. player, Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, notched a 3-3-3 K-D-A ratio for 100 Thieves.
