LOL News: Top Esports advance to World Championship semifinals

Top Esports defeated G2 Esports 3-1 on Thursday to advance to the Knockout Stage semifinals at the $5 million League of Legends 2025 World Championship in Beijing.

Top Esports opened with a 30-minute win on blue and G2 answered with a 32-minute win on red. Top Esports finished with back-to-back 29-minute wins on blue and red, respectively, to eliminate G2.

South Korea’s Jin-Hyeok “Kanavi” Seo was the match MVP for Top Esports, who await the winner of Friday’s final quarterfinal match between Anyone’s Legend and T1. The ensuing semifinal match will be held on Sunday.

The first semifinal on Saturday pits KT Rolster against Gen.G Esports.

The 17-team tourney began with the Swiss Stage on Oct. 14. The Knockout Stage is a single-elimination bracket in which all matches are best-of-five. The champion of the Nov. 9 grand final will earn $1 million, with $800,000 going to the runner-up.
