LOL News: Mad Lions KOI, PSG Talon open World Championships play-in with wins

Mad Lions KOI swept Vikings Esports and PSG Talon rallied past paiN Gaming in the opening matches of the League of Legends World Championship play-in round on Wednesday at Berlin, Germany.

Mad Lions KOI and PSG Talon will square off in a qualification match Friday, with the winner advancing to the Oct. 3-13 Swiss Stage.

All play-in matches, which run through Sunday, are best-of-three. Eight teams are competing in a double-elimination event, with the top four reaching the Swiss Stage.

On Wednesday, Mad Lions KOI won in 37 minutes and 31 minutes, both on green, as David “Supa” Martinez Garcia led the way with a 10/1/8 kill-death-assist ratio.

PSG Talon dropped the first game in 31 minutes but bounced back to take the second game in 28 minutes on green, then clinched the win on green in 33 minutes. Shang-Jhih “Azhi” Huang posted a 4.6/2/5.7 K-D-A ratio for PSG Talon, while Chun-Chia “JunJia” Yu finished at 3/3.3/6.7.
