Golden Guardians recorded a 3-0 victory over PSG Talon on Sunday to win the lower-bracket final in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational play-in stage.
Golden Guardians captured the best-of-five match by following up a 34-minute win on blue with 32- and 34-minute victories on red. They joined Bilibili Gaming and G2 Esports as qualifying teams for the playoffs, with the latter clubs punching their tickets by winning their first two matches in the play-in stage.
PSG Talon finished in ninth place.
The $250,000 Mid-Season Invitational’s bracket stage runs from May 9-21 with a top prize of $50,000. That stage is contested in a double-elimination format. All matches are best-of-five.
Gen.G Esports and G2 Esports will begin the bracket stage on Tuesday with an upper-bracket quarterfinals match. The winner of that match will face the victor of Wednesday’s clash between MAD Lions and T1.
Cloud9 and Bilibili Gaming will square off on Thursday in another upper-bracket quarterfinals match. The winner of that match will face the victor of Friday’s clash between JD Gaming and Golden Guardians.
