LOL News: Gen.G Esports start fast in Swiss Stage of Worlds

Gen.G Esports recorded a convincing 23-minute win on blue over GAM Esports in Round 1 of the Swiss Stage at the 2023 League of Legends World Championship on Thursday.

Gen.G will face T1 in a Round 2 High Match on Friday. T1 recorded a 36-minute victory on blue over Team Liquid.

Cloud9, JD Gaming, G2 Esports, Weibo Gaming, LNG Esports and Bilibili Gaming also were victorious in their respective Round 1 matches.

Cloud9 posted a 31-minute win on blue over MAD Lions, JD Gaming jolted Team BDS in 27 minutes on red and G2 needed 42 minutes to defeat Dplus on blue.

Weibo Gaming and LNG Esports each notched a 29-minute win on blue against NRG and Fnatic, respectively. Bilibili Gaming required 45 minutes on blue to topple KT Rolster.

Cloud9 will face LNG, G2 tangles with Weibo and JDG squares off versus Bilibili in Round 2 High Matches on Friday. The following Low Matches also are set for Friday: NRG vs. Liquid; MAD Lions vs. BDS; Fnatic vs. GAM; KT Rolster vs. Dplus.

After the Swiss Stage, the $2.225 million world championship advances the knockout stage. All rounds are being contested in venues in South Korea. The knockout round will culminate with the Nov. 19 grand final at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
