Just like they had done three nights earlier, Gen.G Esports and T1 needed all five games to determine a winner Saturday night at the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational in Vancouver, Canada.

And just like last time, Gen.5 won the game that mattered most. But this time, they won the tournament championship with it.

Gen.G completed its perfect run through the event, picking up $500,000 in prize money and a berth in the $5 million League of Legends World Championship, to be played this fall in China.

The $2 million event began with two teams from each League of Legends region: China, Korea, Pacific, the Americas and Europe-Middle East-Africa.

T1 got things started on Saturday with a 34-minute on red. Gen.G responded with a 30-minute win on blue, but T1 went ahead again, this time with a 28-minute victory on blue.

Once again, Gen.G evened the match, taking the game in 27 minutes on blue. In the decider, Gen.G got the better of T1, winning in 35 minutes on red.

South Korea’s Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon led all players with 21 kills and added 29 assists to pace Gen.G and be selected the most valuable player. Countryman Joo “Duro” Min-kyu posted a team-high 39 assists without registering a kill.

Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong led T1 with 19 kills while fellow Korean Ryu “Keria” Min-seok posted a match-high 44 assists.

League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational final standings / prize pool:
1. $500,000, berth in League of Legends World Championship — Gen.G Esports
2. $300,000 — T1
3. $240,000 — Anyone’s Legend
4. $200,000 — Bilibili Gaming
5-6. $160,000 — CTBC Flying Oyster, FlyQuest
7-8. $130,000 — G2 Esports, KOI
9. $100,000 — GAM Esports
10. $80,000 — FURIA
