LOL News: FlyQuest tops Cloud9 in LCS Spring Split showdown

FlyQuest won a first-place showdown with Cloud9 on Friday and emerged as the lone unbeaten team in the League Championship Series Spring Split.

Both teams were 3-0 before FlyQuest emerged with a 30-minute win on blue. South Korea’s Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang paced FlyQuest with a 7-1-3 kill-death-assist ratio. Germany’s Dimitri “Diplex” Ponomarev produced a 1-3-1 K-D-A ratio for Cloud9.

In other Friday action, Evil Geniuses beat Dignitas, 100 Thieves topped TSM, Team Liquid handled Golden Guardians and Immortals defeated Counter Logic Gaming.

All 10 teams in the top North American League of Legends circuit will play every other team twice through March 17. The first- through fourth-place teams will then head to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The fifth- and sixth-place teams will enter the playoffs in the lower bracket.

The winner and runner-up in the playoff final will earn berths in the Mid-Season Invitational along with other teams from LoL leagues worldwide. The LCS Spring Split carries a $200,000 prize pool, with the champion earning $100,000.

Evil Geniuses, playing on red, got past Dignitas in 27 minutes. Canada’s Joseph Joon “jojopyun” Pyun compiled a 4-0-10 K-D-A ratio for Evil Geniuses, while two Danish players, Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen and Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen, each finished at 1-3-1 for Dignitas.

100 Thieves earned a 30-minute win on red against TSM. The United States’ Yiliang Peter “Doublelift” Peng registered an 8-2-7 K-D-A ratio for 100 Thieves. Vietnam’s Toan “Neo” Tran ended up at 1-3-0 for TSM.

Team Liquid needed 40 minutes on blue to beat Golden Guardians. South Korea’s Park “Summit” Woo-tae posted a 6-3-9 K-D-A ratio for Liquid. France’s Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun logged a 5-2-6 K-D-A Ratio for Golden Guardians.

Immortals, competing on red, topped Counter Logic Gaming in 36 minutes. The United States’ Edward “Tactical” Ra amassed a 6-3-7 K-D-A ratio for Immortals. Turkey’s Fatih “Luger” Guven ended up at 4-2-1 for Counter Logic Gaming.

Week 3 action begins Thursday with five matches:

–Counter Logic Gaming vs. Golden Guardians
–Immortals vs. Dignitas
